Original preference reflection · Unofficial MBTI-style quiz

This is a snapshot of how you described your preferences, not a fixed identity, diagnosis or measure of ability. Neither pole is better. Use the four directions as conversation starters; this original quiz does not establish an official MBTI type.

How should I read my scores?

Each direction sums 16 items, reversing the opposite wording. Range: 16–80; midpoint: 48. Context groups each contain eight items (8–40). Context scores are descriptive, not independently validated subscales.

CLEAR FROM THE START
What are these assessments based on?

16 Personality Types

Original Mind Calculator questionnaires: 32, 64 or 128 items. Not the official MBTI assessment; no affiliation or endorsement. Items and reference translations are not independently validated.

Our personality assessment uses the 50-item IPIP Big-Five Factor Markers from the International Personality Item Pool, initiated by Lewis R. Goldberg. Our self-esteem assessment uses the 10-item Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (Morris Rosenberg, 1965, Society and the Adolescent Self-Image) in the University of Maryland item order, scored from 0 to 30. We use the English items and published scoring rules. Mind Calculator's explanations and reflection prompts are original educational content; this website has not undergone independent psychometric validation.

IPIP-NEO-120 uses Johnson’s (2014) 120-item version. IPIP-NEO-300 uses the full 30 facet scales. Both show five dimensions and 30 facets; they are not the proprietary NEO-PI-R.

Are the questionnaires licensed for this use?

The SCL-90 page uses a Chinese reference version with draft translations. Independent validation and permission for public commercial use have not been established.

The IPIP items and scales are in the public domain, with commercial use explicitly permitted. The University of Maryland also states that the Rosenberg scale is in the public domain. These statements cover the source scales; they do not imply endorsement of Mind Calculator.

How should I read my scores?

This reference uses responses from 1 to 5. All 90 responses contribute to the total. Each factor is the mean of its assigned items; seven additional items contribute only to the total. This is not the 0–4 scoring version.

IPIP results show five separate raw sums, each from 10 to 50. There is no overall personality score and a higher score is not always better. Rosenberg scores range from 0 to 30, with higher scores reflecting more positive self-evaluation. Neither report shows a population percentile, a diagnosis or a prediction of job performance. The results are a starting point for reflection.

Where do my answers go?

Answers are processed in your browser and are not sent to a server. By default they remain only in the open page. You can opt in to save a draft and reports on this device. Anyone using the same browser profile may see saved information. Delete it through My reports. The website uses no analytics, advertising trackers, external fonts or AI services.

Downloaded files are stored wherever you choose; deleting browser records does not delete those files. If the site is hosted online, the hosting provider may process ordinary connection information such as your IP address, but our application does not upload your answers.

Can this diagnose a mental health condition?

No. These are self-reflection tools, not a clinical assessment or a substitute for professional care. If something is affecting your wellbeing, you can seek support regardless of your score. For immediate danger, contact your local emergency services.

A score is a starting point.
